Grants to Combat Violent Crimes Against Women on Campuses (U.S. Dept. of Justice)
Grants to Combat Violent Crimes Against Women on Campuses are awarded to higher education institutions to work individually or in consortia consisting of campus personnel, student organizations, campus administrators, security personnel, and regional crisis centers affiliated with the institution to develop and strengthen effective strategies to combat violence against women, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses.
The program was established by the United States Congress as a part of the "Higher Education Amendments of 1998." It is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice's Violence Against Women Office (VAWO).
Eligible grantees for this Grant Program are institutions of higher education as defined under the Higher Education Amendments of 1998. A consortium of higher education institutions may also apply for these grants provided that each individual consortium member is also eligible to apply.
In 2000 Congress extended the program through the 2005 fiscal year.
